The Innovative Learning Environments (ILE) research group consists of researchers, university lecturers and PhD students especially from the Faculty of Information Technology and Finnish Institute for Educational Research. The diverse research projects are conducted in close collaboration with other units at the Ģֱ. The ILE group has an extensive national and international network of research institutes, the public sector, and companies.

Research group description

Innovative Learning Environments (ILE) is a research and education field that focuses on the advancement of children’s and young people’s 21st century skills. The field includes user-driven design and study of learning technologies and spaces for enhancement of learning and wellbeing, analyses of innovative teaching and learning practices, STEM and STEAM education, technology-enhanced learning, and evaluation and comparison of ICT (information and communication technology) use in education. When applicable, the research can also be directed to other phases of human life for the study of citizen’s knowledge and capabilities in society.

The multidisciplinary ILE group consists of researchers, university lecturers, and PhD students, especially from the Faculty of Information Technology and Finnish Institute for Educational Research.
