Accessibility specification for the jyu.fi and chydenius.fi online services

This accessibility statement explains how well the jyu.fi and chydenius.fi online services comply with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, what shortcomings there are in the accessibility of the websites and how you can give us feedback on accessibility problems.

The Act on the Provision of Digital Services and the EU’s directive on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies presuppose that all people shall have equal access to digital services. On this basis, also the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ web sites, mobile applications and the contents of related network services must be comprehensible and easily accessible for everyone to use. The network service accessibility means observation of different user groups as well as highest possible accessibility regardless of differences between users, situations and technology. 

How accessible is the website?

This online service largely meets the A and AA level accessibility criteria required by law (WCAG criteria 2.1). The online service has some shortcomings in accessibility, which are described in more detail below.

We are constantly striving to improve the accessibility of the online service. If you observe any issues that are not described on this page, please let us know and we will do our best to fix any shortcomings. We will respond to requests and comments as soon as possible, but no later than within two weeks.

Content that is not yet accessible

  • Some images have descriptions in a language that differs from the site’s main language. (WCAG 1.1.1)
  • In the different language versions of the site, there are sections where no language attribute is provided for content in a different language. (WCAG 3.1.2)
  • The site has issues with heading markup. Some text that should be headings are not marked as such, and some heading markup is incorrect. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • The text fields for some of the site’s search and newsletter subscription forms are missing an accessible name. (WCAG 4.1.2)
  • On the search page, the user does not receive information about whether their search was successful or not. (WCAG 4.1.3)
  • The focus order in the person search does not follow the order of the elements on the page (WCAG 2.4.3)
  • Closing the accordion button on the site can be done via two separate buttons, which may lead to incorrect information. (WCAG 3.2.4 and 4.1.2)
  • The site contains duplicate id attributes. (WCAG 4.1.1)

How have we tested accessibility?

The observations in this accessibility statement are based on a third-party assessment of whether the online service meets legal requirements.

We actively monitor the accessibility of the website and work continuously to address any identified issues. Updates are reported on this page. The University also provides training for staff and web service providers on accessible web services.
