STEAMnet’s Bridges Jyväskylä Math-Art Collection
conference, the world's largest and internationally renowned mathematics, and arts community’s annual meeting has been organized at the Ģֱ with enormous success. Bridges Finland 2016 got the Jyväskylä Convention Bureau’s and the conference’s educational and cultural programs have attracted thousands of people, including teachers, children, and their families, who visited the STEAM workshops organized in the program.
As a preparation event for the Bridges conference, the Discover the Art of Mathematics exhibit, an interactive mathematics exhibit, and a workshop space in JYU’s Soihtu Exhibition Center has attracted more than 3000 pupils and their teachers around the region.
A local multidisciplinary community has emerged based on the local teachers, who were participating in the Soihtu-exhibit and in the Bridges 2016’s cultural and educational programs, and the local artists, who were participating in Bridges 2016’s academic sessions and art exhibit. In addition to the emergence of a new local community – connected by STEAM-learning –, Bridges participants have donated several valuable artworks and educational tools for local learning processes and cultural activities, such as organizing children's programs.
The interest in these artworks, tools, methods, and activities has significantly grown and we get more and more requests from local teachers to visit their schools with our STEAM programs.
STEAMnet Teacher Training Courses in STEAM
STEAM-oriented teacher training courses at the Ģֱ are organized by Dr. Kristóf Fenyvesi at the Department of Teacher Education as part of the “Mathematics, small group teaching” Applied Module.
If you wish to receive more information on the training program, please contact here.
STEAMnet Multidisciplinary Learning Modules, including school events for students and pedagogical development for in-service teachers
STEAMnet's program includes Educational Events for Students and a Pedagogical Development Course for Teachers. We facilitate and support the planning, realization, and follow-up of Multidisciplinary Learning Modules in schools and at the same time, we realize STEAM-oriented teacher development programs for the participating teachers.
STEAMnet's training course about Multidisciplinary Learning of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics integration) is organized for school communities of
- primary school teachers and students
- secondary school teachers of all subjects and students
If you wish to receive more information on the program, please contact here.
