Department of Music, Art and Culture Studies
We are a unique, multidisciplinary research centre focused on solving a diverse range of problems and challenges in a constantly changing world of cultures and communities. Our activities combine human, psychological and technological expertise with both basic research needs and the development of art-based approaches and applications.

Our range of subjects reflects the research and educational priorities of our institution, such as the study of culture and cultural heritage, the impact of arts and culture on well-being, and cultural perspectives on crises and social change.
The emphasis in our research on the importance of the arts as an activity that promotes human well-being and as different forms of human cultural heritage is also reflected in the content of our studies: during the studies, students can deepen their knowledge of the well-being aspects of artistic and cultural activities and research methods in art therapy.

The research of the Department uses the points of view of culture, art and music to assess topical global developments such as digitalisation and technologisation, multiculturalisation, social polarisation and rootlessness. The research focuses on wellbeing, identity, cognition, experiences, feelings, affects and meaning-making processes in a multidisciplinary manner, utilising the tools of music, art and cultural research.
