Application process step by step

1. Start preparing well in advance! See the admission criteria of the programme(s) you are interested in. Book and take a language test or GMAT/GRE at your earliest convenience if required. Familiarise yourself with our document requirements in advance.

2. Submit the online application form on Studyinfo.fi during the application period. Don't worry if you can't see it yet: the form is available only during the dedicated application period. Make sure to reserve enough time to fill it. If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen, you may be required to pay the application fee. After you have submitted your application, check your email (including your spam folder) regularly throughout the application process!

3. Submit your attachments by the given deadline(s). Upload the required attachments to your application form on Studyinfo.fi. Avoid the last-minute rush and submit your documents well in advance of the deadline.

4. Wait for information on the next phase. After we have processed all the applications, you may be invited to take part in the next phase(s) of the application process. For example, you may be asked to complete a written assignment or participate in an online interview. After the interview invitations have been sent out, you will have only a few days to confirm your time slot and your interview could take place as soon as four days after receiving the invitation. Please check the admission criteria of the programme(s) you are applying for to learn more. In case your application is deemed ineligible/will not process the next phase(s), we will inform you at this time as well.

5. Wait for the admissions decision. The University will make the admissions decisions based on the applicant’s application and any possible subsequent phase(s) of the application process according to the programme-specific admission criteria. You will be informed of the outcome of your application via email by given date.

6. If you are offered a study place, check whether you are required to submit any educational documents for verification. To receive an unconditional offer, you must submit either officially certified paper copies of the necessary educational documents or electronic copies that meet our requirements. Please start acquiring these documents without any delay if you haven't already; this could take several months depending on the country/institution. If you fail to submit all the required documents in time or if the documents do not meet our requirements, your admission will be cancelled.

Student intake statistics

Each programme has a defined number of study places open for application. The admission rate is dependent on the number and quality of applications, which naturally vary between admission rounds. If the number of excellent applications is greater than the given number of available study seats, we may decide to accept slightly more applicants than initially announced. As there is no system for clearing, this also ensures that all the study seats will be filled in case some admitted applicants do not accept their offered study place.

Please see the links below for statistics regarding student intake at JYU.
