Information technology forms the basis for modern society. With technological development has come a myriad of new possibilities and challenges that significantly affect people’s daily lives and interaction in the knowledge society.

This strategic core field explores the digitalization and digital future of society from the perspectives of technology, information, innovations, business, and people. Our research is cross-disciplinary and addresses a range of areas through the lens of digitalisation, including digital security, data-based decision-making, the future of work, and the wellbeing and health of people, communities and society.

Information technology and people are in close interaction in the knowledge society. Technology offers countless possibilities, but it also poses numerous challenges to individuals as well as society. We need to find a balance between the use of technology and human values, while ensuring that technology serves the common good and sustainable development.
