Project description

There has recently been a wealth of research and projects on the functioning of municipalities in differentiating demographic structures and on the organisation of education. In addition to previous studies and statistics, it is also necessary to look at models for responding to changing circumstances, according to the type of municipality. The approach of this project is therefore multi-level, based on previously collected data, existing studies and statistical data, as well as on survey and interview data by type of municipality produced by the project. Before the surveys and interviews are carried out, a comprehensive review of existing studies and surveys on municipalities' educational activities, funding, quality work, staffing and class distribution will be conducted (e.g. Silverström et al. 2022; OPH 2020).

The research project is carried out by the Institute for Educational Research at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ in cooperation with the Research Foundation for Studies and Education and the EDUCA flagship. The research will provide data to support the OKM working group on demographic challenges in the organisation of basic education ( ) and is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
