
Päivi Häkkinen
Biography
Päivi Häkkinen is working as a professor and vice-director at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research (FIER). Her work focuses on the use of technologies for learning, especially on research on computer-supported collaborative learning, problem solving and assessment. Her recent research interests also cover the possibilities of learning analytics and the added value of virtual and augmented reality from the viewpoint of learning.
Research interests
Research on the use ICT (Information and Communication Technology) focuses on learning environments, in which students work individually and collaboratively by solving problems, supported by variety of tools and resources. My research produces knowledge about collaborative use of technology to support learning, problem solving and assessment in particular. This research can be utilized by students, teachers and teacher educators who aim to facilitate pedagogically meaningful use of technology and interaction to trigger learning mechanisms.
