The research of the Department of Music, Art and Culture Studies uses the points of view of culture, art and music to assess topical global developments such as digitalisation and technologisation, multiculturalisation, social polarisation and rootlessness.

Our research is multidisciplinary

The research of the Department analyses and seeks to understand and explain current developments in culture, the arts and music. The research focuses on wellbeing, identity, cognition, experiences, feelings, affects and meaning-making processes in a multidisciplinary manner, utilising the tools of music, art and cultural research. Our research is based on both quantitative and qualitative methods.

The Research Centre for Contemporary Culture represents and promotes multidisciplinary cultural research. Research focuses on contemporary culture. In line with a broad concept of culture, the relationship between the social and cultural dimensions and lifestyle, as well as the meanings attached to arts and media, are examined.
