Bachelor's Degree Programme in Business Innovation and Sustainability

Why this programme?

By attending the Bachelor of Business Innovation and Sustainability programme you will learn science-based thinking and logic in business and sustainability. Our courses support business skills to create new knowledge.  You will also get the benefits of a small programme: Our courses take place in smaller groups where you get to interact directly with teachers and other students. You will get personal counseling and personal study plan individually tailored for your career purposes.

In our programme in Business Innovation and Sustainability, you will learn about the management of business innovations, sustainable management, new business creation, decision-making, and sustainability transition.

This programme also offers high-quality elective studies in digital marketing, responsible management, and entrepreneurship, among others. In addition, we provide multiple opportunities for student exchange and trainee periods in companies.

Programme info

The complete studies total 180 ECTS credits. Studying full-time, students will graduate within 3 years. Studies begin in September and there is no mid-point entry to the programme. The programme is taught entirely in English.

After graduation, students are awarded the title Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration. As a graduate of this programme, you have a direct pathway to continuing your studies at the master’s level in one of our international M.Sc. programmes at the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics.

How and when to apply?

  • The next application period is in January 2026.
  • You can apply by submitting an online application form. This form is available in the Studyinfo.fi portal during the application period.
  • Applicants also need to submit the required attachments mentioned in the programme-specific admission criteria and on the application form.
  • Students from non-EU/EEA countries are liable to pay a tuition fee. We offer a tuition fee scholarship for students liable to pay tuition fees.

Business school faculty members

Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics is internationally AACSB, AMBA and BGA accredited, and we conduct high-quality research and provide high-quality business and economics degree and MBA education based on it.

BIS programme faculty originate in top Scandinavian Ph.D. programmes. Most have taught at other business schools: the University of Lausanne, the University of St. Gallen, the University of Stockholm, the University of Karlstad among others. Our faculty publish regularly at the highest international level in journals like Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Organization Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, and other journals from the prestigious FT-50 list.  

We take the practice of business just as seriously. Many of our faculty participate firm management in the roles of board member or specialist, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and teachers in executive education programmes. Collectively, they offer experience from multinational and Finnish firms such as Kesko, ²Ñ±ð³Ù²õä Group, and Valtra. Others bring executive-level insights from entrepreneurial and venture capital initiatives.
