Research group description
The leader of the research group, Eija Laakkonen, is an associate professor of translational exercise and health research. The research group is multidisciplinary including expertise from cell and molecular biology, bioinformatics and machine learning, exercise biology and physical activity research, eating behavior research, health sciences and gerontology, nursing and physiotherapy, cancer studies and women's physiology. Our core group includes several senior and junior researchers and a variable number of master's students conduct their thesis research or participate in research internships. Furthermore, Dr Laakkonen and other senior researchers contribute supervision of several doctoral thesis as primary and and secondary supervisors (see more about them under PhD thesis projects).
