Sports Technology Unit Vuokatti

Sports Technology Unit (JYU-Vuokatti) is part of the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences. The Sports Technology Unit specializes in multidisciplinary and applied research in sport biology and in Master's and PhD studies in sport technology.

Research and Sport Science Studies

Sports Technology Unit started operating in Vuokatti in 2004 and is currently located in Technology Park Snowpolis. On the research side, JYU-Vuokatti specializes in applied and technology-based research, particularly in Nordic skiing. JYU-Vuokatti has a strong national and international research and development network, which has led to several international scientific congresses being held in Vuokatti.

What Is Sports Technology?

Sports technology seeks solutions to combine technological know-how with biomechanical, physiological and coaching expertise to promote performance, functional capacity and health. Applications include competitive and elite sport, fitness and health, sport for specific groups or rehabilitation. Exercise technology also includes analysis software and assistive technologies.

Sports Technology Studies

Studying in JYU-Vuokatti

The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ has been organising Master's and Doctoral studies in sports technology in Vuokatti under the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences since 2004. Currently, Vuokatti's Master's degree activities are made possible by the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ and the municipality of Sotkamo. Between 2004 and 2012, the training programmes were implemented with ESF and ERDF funding.

Sports Technology studies will develop you as an expert in the interface between human musculoskeletal function, exercise and technology. The master's degree programme in Sports Technology focuses on biomechanics, exercise physiology and coaching sciences. At the moment our master’s degree and dual career programmes are offered only in Finnish. 

Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ offers a wide range of study opportunities in English. You can come to Jyväskylä as an exchange student, study for a two-year master's degree, do a PhD, study open university-level studies or visit our summer and winter schools.
