Research laboratories in JYU-Vuokatti

The laboratories of the Sports Technology Unit can develop technological solutions and measure biomechanical and physiological strength and endurance variables.

The laboratories of Sports Technology Unit form a versatile consept

The laboratories provide measurement conditions for both high performance sports and well-being research.

The infrastructures of the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, together with its skilled staff, enable cutting-edge research to be carried out. The faculty's laboratory facilities include the Performance and Functional Fitness Measurements Laboratory Unit, the Bioanalytical Laboratory Unit and the Technical Department.

The laboratories of Sports Technology Unit Vuokatti allow the measurement of technological solutions, both biomechanical and physiological strength and endurance. The whole infrastructure of the faculty forms a versatile whole, which is used by researchers and students from the different disciplines of the faculty.

The research and development work at JYU-Vuokatti also conducted in the Vuokatti ski tunnel. The world's first ski tunnel (1.2 km) enables research and development of skiing disciplines throughout the year.

Coachtech- coaching feedback system

Coachtech is a measurement and feedback system developed at JYU-Vuokatti to support coaching and research. It can be connected to various sensors (e.g. force plates, force sensors, light gates, accelerometers) and video cameras. The system collects and synchronises the sensor data with the video  and generates results for the coach and athlete to view. All data is stored in the system's database, making it easy to compare the results between the sessions. The system is used in the skiing laboratory, the strength & endurance laboratory, biomechanics laboratory, the shooting laboratory and the outdoor shooting laboratory.
