The anniversary of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science
Faculty of Mathematics and Science celebrates its 60th anniversary this year!
To mark the anniversary, a range of events will be organised throughout the year. The faculty will organise for example public lectures, seminars and events for alumni. A more detailed programme will be published in the spring.
The year culminates in the main celebration for faculty staff, alumni and stakeholders on 6 November 2025. The main celebration includes a celebration during day, programme organised by the departments and an evening party with dinner.
There’s also another reason to celebrate: this year marks the 55th anniversary of the Department of Biological and Environmental Science!

There is a growing need for scientific and mathematical expertise. We need new knowledge of sustainable solutions as well as new technologies, of course, but also understanding of the ways in which the new solutions and technologies can be integrated into people’s daily lives and replace unsustainable practices.

Artificial cultivation is a necessary intermediate phase in the protection of pearl mussels and gives hope for saving the endangered mussel species from extinction.
The faculty hopes that any memories can be directed to the freshwater pearl mussels research. By making a donation, you can help ensure that the important research and cultivation work at Konnevesi continues into the future.
