
Chemistry Education
Research in chemistry education focuses on the development of different teaching and learning approaches.Design-based research is frequently applied to understand how chemistry education can be developed through hands-on and student-oriented approaches. We search and test research-based models in pedagogical subject-content knowledge which are relevant to the learner and develop skills in a comprehensive way. Teacher training in chemistry focuses on collaborative and active learning in different learning and teaching environments.
Our aim is the 'investigative chemistry teacher'. Accordingly, the teacher will gain a broad knowledge of the subject matter and also able to develop his/her own teaching and expertise by applying research, laboratory work and modern ICT tools for meaningful and evidence-based chemistry education. Personal and educational inquiry is the starting point for innovative, constructive and relevant chemistry education.
