Children, youth and families
The wellbeing of children, youth and families is a central research focus in the Faculty of Education and Psychology. The Child and Family Research Network is an interdisciplinary and international research concentration operated by the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥.
The researchers in the University's Child and Family Research Network collaboratively developed the transdisciplinary Social Sustainability for Children and Families (SOSUS) profiling area, which is funded by the Academy of Finland (2021–2026). SOSUS aims to provide a novel and methodologically diverse understanding of the various factors that contribute to the development and wellbeing of children, youth and families, notably participation and equity.
The Childhood and Education research team at the Department of History and Ethnology contributes to the university’s interdisciplinary childhood research by examining the history of childhood, youth, and education with a multifaceted approach. Among other topics, the members of the team study childhood in post-war Finland, the history of child welfare and of marriage and family, home-school cooperation, as well as the teaching and learning of history.
