Project description
The Finnish School-aged Physical Activity study gathers information about the behavior, attitudes, values ​​and experiences related to physical activity of Finnish children and young people. The Health Promotion Research Center of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ is in charge of collecting the information by using an electronic survey. The UKK institute is responsible for the objective measurement of movement, sedentary behavior and sleep with a wearable accelerometer.
The goal of the research is to create a nationwide information system about the physical activity behavior of children and young people aged 7–19 in Finland. The study has previously been carried out in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2022.
The latest data collection of the Finnish School-aged Physical Activity study is carried out in both comprehensive school and secondary education institutions during autumn 2023 and year 2024. In the future, data collection will take place in every four years.
