Before arrival

How to get to Jyväskylä

The city of Jyväskylä is located in Central Finland, some 270 km north of Helsinki. The connections are relatively frequent and the journey from Helsinki to Jyväskylä takes 3,5 - 4 hours by train. Please note that trains and buses are more convenient and environmentally friendly ways to reach Jyväskylä than plane.

While in Jyväskylä

University campus and facilities

The Summer School will take place on the Ylistönrinne and Mattilanniemi campuses by the Lake Jyväsjärvi, ca. 1.5 kilometres from the Jyväskylä city centre. The campus is about 25 minutes away from the city centre by foot. The Nanoscience Center and the departments of Biological and Environmental Science, Chemistry, and Physics are within a five-minute walk over a walking bridge on the other side of the lake. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Faculty of Information Technology are located on the Mattilanniemi campus.
