Studying at the Open University is open to all. How do you get started with your studies? How can you sign up for courses?

Open University studies at JYU are available year-round, fully online. Select the perfect course for you, and sign up through the course page's registration link. If you're a new student at JYU, you will be guided to create a student account, and then you will continue with your course registration and payment. JYU Open University studies are priced at 15 € per study credit, though free-of-charge courses are offered as well.

Registration requires a valid passport or an EU identity card. If you have a Finnish bank ID, you can register via the OMA service.

Studies at the Open University may consist of separate courses or whole study programmes. Whole study programmes are offered in Finnish. All of the subjects and courses available in English are studied through distance learning. You can study conveniently from wherever you are!

Open University teaching corresponds to university teaching in quality and standard. Please note that you cannot get a diploma or complete an academic degree at the Open University.

JYU Open University courses are studied on one of two online environments: Moodle or Online Courses. Whichever one your course is on: first register for the course, and then log in to the platform using your JYU account.
