Who can study at the Open University?

JYU Open University is proud to be open to all

We do not have formal prerequisites for prior education for you to become a student. Anyone can sign up and complete Open University courses.

Our teaching matches that of the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ in content, quality and standards. Therefore, the same basic requirements for academic capabilities apply: You must be able to read and write academic texts in English, and have computer skills and access to the internet.

Studying at the Open University is considered a part-time activity, on its own not entitling you to a student status. In Finland, open universities do not grant degrees.

If you are interested in completing degree studies with JYU, please consider the Master's Degree Programmes and Doctoral Programmes of the university.

JYU degree students and exchange students

If you are a degree student or an exchange student in the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥, you can study the whole international course offering of the Open University free of charge. Make use of this flexible study option!
