Multidisciplinary nanoscience
Nanoscience is a rapidly developing field that influences innovation in electronics and many other everyday technologies. The Nanoscience Center conducts research that aims to respond to society’s major challenges by combining expertise and methods from a range of disciplines that complement each other. For example, research related to health and wellbeing, sustainable development, and the second quantum revolution is carried out at the NSC in collaboration with different fields within the university, as well as with other domestic and foreign universities. NSC is Finland’s only truly interdisciplinary research unit focusing on nanoscience, and there are only a few similar ones worldwide.
NSC produces high-quality multidisciplinary research and actively promotes the appreciation of science in society through education, science communication and industrial cooperation. The unit also carries out development projects with companies and has its own spin-off companies starting from the center. NSC offers a unique opportunity to study nanoscience as a major right from the beginning of university studies to the doctoral degree level.

It really gives a wider perspective when we provide chances for young people and influence their lives. Students are full of optimism, which rubs off on me as well.
The Nanoscience Centre's research collaboration strengthens knowledge and business development. Working with businesses to bring about change towards a more sustainable world and develop new knowledge
Nanoscience Center work closely with sister organizations. Cooperation accomplish bigger goals, build broader support and reach a wider audience.
We welcome school children, students, companies and other visitors to come for a visit to our cross-disciplinary research centre. Visit our Laserlab-NSC, clean-room facilities, low-temperature laboratory, virus laboratory, and observe our research activities. Come learn about all kinds of surprising new things that can be accomplished by combining various fields of science!
