Departure checklist: Things to do before your exchange period. Please remember that you are responsible for the arrangements of your exchange.

Application forms

Fill in the application form of the host university and return it to the host university by the given deadline. Application forms can usually be found on the host university's website. Some universities send the link to the application form by e-mail. While visiting the website of the host university, please check:

  • What is the deadline for returning the application forms?
  • Which forms and attachments are required?
  • When do the semesters start and end at the host university?
  • How to apply for accommodation?

If you cannot find this information on the host university website, please contact the host university international office.

Typical attachments

  • Transcript of records - you can download an electronically signed transcript of records from Sisu. Instructions for downloading the transcript
  • Certificate of registration - you can download an electronically signed certificate of registration from Sisu, Instructions for downloading the certificate of registration
  • Language certificate. If you need a certificate of your English skills, you can get it from Movi after having completed a language proficiency test. Please sign up for the test by the given deadline. Information on the Movi English language proficiency test. If you need a certificate of your proficiency in another language, please contact the relevant teacher at Movi.
  • Learning Agreement or study plan - further information below

To make the most of your study period abroad, set goals for your exchange.

Plan your studies (Learning Agreement)

Make a study plan for your mobility period before your departure. Learning Agreement instructions will be sent to you by e-mail from the Mobility-Online system during the semester prior to your exchange. The Learning Agreement instructions differ from programme to programme.

Housing

Apply for housing in your host city well in advance.

Registration at JYU

Register for attendance by 31 July.

Scholarship

You will receive your JYU travel scholarship approximately one month prior to your departure
