Instructions for choosing your courses

  • The list of courses offered in English is updated for the following academic year annually in June; incoming exchange students must make their initial course selections based on the current year's course provision. Note! There will also be a new curriculum starting from autumn 2024, which may bring some changes to the course offer.
  • The full study load per academic year is 60 ECTS credits (30 credits per semester).
  • JYU does not require you to get a certain number of ECTS credits during your exchange. Please discuss the minimum requirements with your home institution.
  • You can choose courses from the curriculum of your host department/faculty and/or from the international study programmes which are open to all students.
  • Please note that, generally, the fourth character in the course code indicates the level of study: P = Basic studies (bachelor level), A = Intermediate studies (bachelor level), S = Advanced studies (master level).

Restrictions to be taken into consideration:

  • Some of the courses may be targeted at students of the department/faculty in question only.
  • Some courses may have prerequisites which participants must fulfill.
