University Collegium
Duties and members of the University Collegium
The University Collegium has 30 members, who all have personal deputies. Of the members, and correspondingly of the deputy members, 10 represent the professors, 10 the teaching and research staff as well as other staff, and 10 the students of the University.
The University Collegium’s term of office is from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2025. The term of office for student members is from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025.
The chair of the University Collegium is Professor Kaisa Miettinen, the first vice chair is student Jenni Suutari and the second vice chair is Lecturer Panu Moilanen. The secretary of the University Collegium is Legal Counsel Markus Kumara.
The University Collegium:
- decides on the number of members in the University Board and the duration of the term of office for the University Board and its members
- elects the University Board members from outside the University community
- confirms the University Board members elected by the groups of the University community
- dismisses a board member on the proposal of the University Board
- elects the auditors of the University
- confirms the financial statement and the annual report of the University and discharges the University Board members and the Rector from liability
- decides on the bringing of an action for damages against a University Board member, the Rector or an auditor
- decides on the dismissal of a University Board member, if the University Collegium decides to bring an action for damages against the member of the University Board.
