Mobile devices
Mobile devices are like small personal computers. They have the same kind of security requirements as their bigger counterparts.
1. Install an anti-virus program on your mobile device too, and check regularly for vulnerabilities.
2. Install only those apps you trust, and use the official store on your device. If, for example, a flashlight app requires access to your contact information, regard these requests with care.
3. Don’t open attached files from persons you do not know. These might contain a malware.
4. Set a password or other passphrase you need to give each time you open your device. Use a password that is not similar to any other service’s password you use.
5. Familiarize yourself with the device’s remote control and remote memory wipe functions (if these are available).
6. Make regular backups.
7. Close WLAN and Bluetooth connections when you do not need them.
8. Consider sharing your location information through your device. Many service providers record this information and use it for commercial purposes.
