Application process

If you are a final-year student and the qualification used to prove your eligibility is still incomplete at the time of application, you can be admitted on the these conditions:

you graduate and
submit the required final educational documents/information according to JYU’s admissions timetable.

If you fail to do so, your admission will be cancelled. If you graduate later or the necessary documents cannot be issued in time for you to meet our deadlines, then please wait until 2026 to apply.

In the application phase, you are required to submit all the other required attachments except for final educational documents. Instead, you will be asked to provide information on your unfinished degree on the application form.

How to apply

Starting on 1 January 2025 and onwards, non-EU/EEA citizens must pay an application fee when applying for programmes leading to a degree in higher education (excluding doctoral degrees and Erasmus Mundus programmes).

Finnish or EU citizens are not liable to pay the fee. Those who have a residence card for a family member of an EU citizen in Finland, a European Union Blue Card, a continuous residence permit granted on grounds other than studies, a permanent Finnish residence permit or a long-term resident's EU residence permit are also exempted from the fee. The same applies to those under temporary protection, who do not have to pay the application fee.

Application fee is 100 euros.

After paying the application fee, you can apply in all applications in which studies start in the same academic term, including different universities.

At the moment JYU offers one international bachelor's programme called Business Innovation and Sustainability. The programme is taught in English and is offered by the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics.

Submitting the application

The application form itself is to be submitted online in the Studyinfo portal during the application period, by 22 January 2025 at 3:00 p.m. (EET) at the latest.

After submitting the form, you can change your answers in the Studyinfo portal until the end of the application period.

You can re-access your application either through the MyStudyinfo service (Finnish online banking credentials required) or a personal link sent automatically by Studyinfo.

The application form must be submitted by the end of the application period, i.e., by 22 January 2025 at 3:00 p.m. (EET).
Once you have submitted your application, you can re-access the form to upload any missing attachments. The deadline for submitting attachments is 29 January 2025 at 3:00 p.m. (EET).
If you apply with unfinished qualification or degree other deadlines may also apply.

Good to know for minors

Please note that if you are under 18 years old when you start the studies in Finland, you are legally a minor and you can’t for example make a rental agreement for accommodation, electricity contract or open a bank account by yourself. Therefore, life in Finland as a minor student without parents can be very challenging.

About the programme

The BIS studies take three years.

The bachelor thesis will be started in early 3rd year and most of the courses will be finished by then. However, all the courses can not be completed during the first two years and there will be a few courses still left for the 3rd year.

Also, please notice that the thesis seminars take place as live seminars at the business school and require your attendance on campus.

Therefore, completing BIS studies require you to study in Jyväskylä for three years.
