Education description

In the Doctoral Programme in Cognitive Neuroscience, you will thoroughly familiarize yourself with the chosen research topic of the dissertation, as well as the main theories, research knowledge and research methods in the field of study. We welcome applicants who have relevant background studies for example in cognitive neuroscience, neuroscience, behavioral sciences (e.g., psychology, sport sciences, psycholinguistics), cognition science, information technology, engineering, medicine and life sciences, biological sciences, and related fields. Doctoral research conducted in the doctoral programme is focused on one of the following priorities of research at the Faculty of Education and Psychology: 1) Brain and psychophysiological research, 2) Learning, learning difficulties, and affecting factors, and 3) Methodology studies. During your doctoral studies, you will learn to apply the research methods of cognitive neuroscience and to generate new scientific knowledge in the field of research. You will develop skills to work in research and other demanding professional tasks and learn to profoundly understand the phenomena of cognitive neuroscience.

A doctoral degree consists of a doctoral dissertation and other doctoral studies, and the doctoral students will carry out research in research groups. In the Doctoral Programme in Cognitive Neuroscience, you will graduate as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
