Data management guidance for Research Council of Finland projects

A researcher who has received a positive funding decision from the Research Council of Finland (former Academy of Finland) must submit a Data Management Plan (DMP) to the funder within eight weeks of the funding decision. The Open Science Centre Research Data Services offer support in the preparation of the Data Management Plan and will check the completed plans before they are submitted.

Data management plan as a condition for receiving funding

The Research Council of Finland requires that the principal investigator (PI) of the project submits a data management plan to the Council's electronic SARA application system within eight (8) weeks of the date of the funding decision.

Submission of the DMP is a condition for receiving funding. The DMP must be commented on and approved by the Open Science Centre' Research Data Services team before the PI submits it to SARA. The Open Science Centre will also provide assistance and advice in drafting and finalising the DMP to be sent to the Council.

Make an appointment or send your DMP for comments in good time

The Open Data Centre organises workshops and advice on the preparation and finalisation of a data management plan. If you have already prepared a draft plan, please submit it to the OIC's Research Data Services for comments.

Once the Open Data Centre has reviewed and commented on the DMP, you can submit it to SARA. The facility manager will then approve the plan in SARA's online application, confirming the applicant's approval.

You can reach the Open Data Centre's Research Data Services for assistance in drafting and finalizing the DMP to be submitted:
