Wellbeing services, structures and economy

At the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥, wellbeing structures and services are examined, for instance, in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. These research themes are particularly relevant in the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy as well as interdisciplinary culturally oriented health and wellbeing research.

Research on wellbeing structures and services is one of the key areas of the Centre of Excellence in Ageing and Care Research (CoE AgeCare), funded by the Academy of Finland between 2018-2025. The Active Aging and Care (AAC) profiling area was also an active research project at the University from 2018-2022. The main research areas of AAC were active aging, the digitalization of old age, care and housing policies as well as overall wellbeing, the individual and the environment. Alongside the public sector, research has also focused on the third sector. Experiences of wellbeing structures and services have accounted for the perspectives of both customers and service staff.

The relationship between economics and health and wellbeing is a central research theme at the Jyväskylä School of Business and Economics (JSBE), particularly in health economics, cost-effectiveness research, public sector communication, crisis communication, marketing and health as well as in research on wellbeing services. The interconnectivity of economics and wellbeing is one of the key research areas in the Empirical Microeconomics research group.

JSBE has also actively taken part in the Biodiversity Respectful Leadership (BIODIFUL) consortium coordinated by the University of Turku. The project aims to reform consumer behavior, business thinking and institutional practices towards a form of management that accounts for biodiversity.
