Hulmi Lab - Muscle and Exercise Metabolism (MEM)

Table of contents
Research group description
We study metabolism at the whole body, muscle and cellular levels using a variety of in vivo and in vitro research models. More specific research topics include, the effects of metabolic reprogramming on muscle size regulation, the physiological effects of resistance training and strength training rest, and training, nutrition and weight loss in athletes. We make use of the latest research tools in physiology and life sciences, such as multi-omics and isotope tracers. In addition to the research groups in our faculty, we also collaborate with e.g. Nanosciences in our university. We also collaborate nationally and internationally with different well-known universities.
Our research increases the know-how of the importance of muscles, about regulation of muscle atrophy, hypertrophy and metabolism, exercise physiology, resistance training, sports nutrition and muscle medicine. The results can be applied to the prevention and treatment of muscle atrophy and in different exercise and nutrition applications and recommendations.
