Project description
The main goal of the KASVU (GROWTH) project is to establish a strategic collaboration network for leadership education in the field of education. The project is coordinated by the Institute of Educational Leadership at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥, with partners including Kokkola University Centre Chydenius, the University of Lapland, and the Continuing Learning Services TREE at the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
Up to now, leadership training has been mainly project-funded, for example with support from the Finnish National Board of Education, and at the participants' own expense. However, the uncertainties surrounding the funding of the continuing education and the end of funding from the Finnish National Board of Education have raised concerns about the future of continuing education in educational leadership.
The KASVU project offers solutions to these challenges and aims to ensure that leadership training in the sector can continue and develop in the future. The project aims to create a sustainable and coherent basis for continuing education that supports the development of competences and professional development processes. The development of leadership competences will have a broad impact at different levels of the education system, with positive effects on the learning and well-being of individuals and communities alike.
The KASVU (GROWTH) project started on 1 April 2025 with funding from the European Social Fund (ESF+).
The project's main objective is divided into three sub-objectives:
Strengthening the network:
The goal is to establish a common national forum for providers of educational leadership education, researchers and working life organisations. This involves establishing a common national forum for providers of educational leadership education, researchers, and working life organizations.
Clarifying roles:
The aim is to strengthen the awareness of the continuing learning network and create a national expertise cluster to support future development work and education. This involves recognizing working life needs and addressing overlaps and gaps in the supply of continuing education in educational leadership.
Creating a shared pedagogical foundation:
The goal is to develop a shared pedagogical foundation for the education in leadership across all levels and forms of education, enabling flexible learning paths and processes for continuing learning.
The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ has a project budget of 556 761 €, of which 80% is covered by EU funding. Project duration 1.4.2025-31.7.2028.
The project website will soon be opened under the Institute of Educational Leadership.
