Corpus of Finland-Swedish Sign Language: translating sign language into Swedish, Signbank videos and a signed user manual

Project description
The Ministry of Education and Culture has granted the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ the responsibility for research on Finland-Swedish Sign Language for the period 2021-2024 together with the University of Helsinki. The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ has carried out its share of the research by building the Finland-Swedish Sign Language Corpus, an extensive language resource: an endangered language research infrastructure that, when completed, will also digitally document the cultural heritage of the language and promote science education focused on Finland-Swedish sign language. The work on the corpus has so far focused on the processing of video material at the sign level. However, the completion of the corpus also requires the translation of the sign language material into Swedish and the production of videos for the lexical database that forms part of the corpus. In addition, a user manual for the corpus in Finland-Swedish sign language is needed. This project focuses on the implementation of these tasks.
