Biography
I am a doctoral researcher working on impacts of anthropogenic stressors (particularly chemical stressors such as fungicides) on aquatic ecosystems. I use the freshwater isopod Asellus aquaticus as a model system to study these impacts, as it is a keystone detritivore that is crucial to nutrient cycling, and also generally tolerant to human-induced stressors. Currently, I am looking at direct (such as toxicity) and indirect impacts (by modifying the fungal community in the Asellus diets) of fungicides, and how fungicides affect interactions of Asellus aquaticus with predators. In the future, I plan to investigate ecosystem level consequences of chemical stressors by following the impact pathways of both direct and indirect effects, and also explore interactive effects of chemical and thermal stressors on freshwater ecosystems.
