THE ranking: Psychology at JYU among the best in Finland, health sciences and natural sciences also ranked high

Psychology at the Ģֱ was placed 176–200 in the ranking of the best universities. Times Higher Education – World University Rankings listed the top 494 universities in Psychology. JYU’s position dropped slightly from the previous year.

The Psychology list includes five universities from Finland, of which JYU, with the University of Tampere, is the second best after the University of Helsinki. Stanford was ranked the world’s best university in psychology.

Health sciences dropped to 401–500 in the Pre-clinical, Clinical & Health list from the previous year’s 301–400. The list includes six universities from Finland. The comparison includes in total 775 leading universities in the fields of medicine, dentistry and health sciences.

Natural sciences of JYU were ranked 501–600 among 1,054 universities. The Physical Sciences list includes world’s top universities in mathematics, statistics, physics, astronomy, chemistry, geology and environmental science.

 “The slight decrease in results may be explained by annual fluctuation. The rankings emphasise publication activity and internationalisation,” says Head of Internationalization and Higher Education Policy Anna Grönlund.

The rankings by subject focus on teaching, research and citations. In addition, international outlook and industry income are evaluated.
