
Research at the Department of Language and Communication Studies
The research of the Department of Language and Communication Studies is located in the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥'s core fields of research of Language, Culture and Society, and is also closely linked to two other focus areas: Learning, teaching and interaction, and Information technology and people in the information society. In addition, the department will produce new knowledge with a societal impact in the profiling area of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, which focuses on multilingualism.
It also includes the Sign Language Centre, which is responsible for the highest level of sign language research and education in Finland, in accordance with a special national mandate granted by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
