Supplementing studies after graduation

After completing your degree, you can continue your studies as an alumni, with a separate study right, at the open university or in continuous learning.

Alumni studies

After completing the degree in accordance with the study right, the student has the right to register as an alumni student. As an alumni student, you can pursue studies free of charge until the end of the second academic year following graduation.

As an alumni student, you can:

  • study elective study units
  • continue the study units for which you had the right to study when completing your degree
  • complete all JYU Open University studies free of charge if your degree was completed on or after 1 August 2023

Separate study right

Once your alumni study right has expired, you can apply for a separate study right in order to continue studying.

The faculties and the Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication Movi can grant separate study rights for study units and modules which are not offered at the JYU Open university.

Open university

If the studies you wish to complete are available at the JYU Open university, you can supplement your degree by enrolling in the open university. Please note that the majority of open university studies are only available in Finnish. See the courses offered in English below.

Continuous learning

The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ also offers opportunities to improve your skills and knowledge through continuous learning programmes. The continuous learning programmes of JYU include e.g. educational leadership studies, Avance Executive MBA studies, psychotherapy training and Urasilta training by the Faculty of Information Technology.
