Departure information for exchange students

Checklist of things to do before departure for incoming exchange students

Table of contents

As an exchange student, there are a few things to take care of after your studies at JYU are coming to an end. Please see below more information.

Transcript of records

Fill in the “Complete information about departure” section in in order to receive your transcript of records (not applicable to ISEP students). An electronic transcript of records will be sent to the email addresses you have given at the end of January (those studying at JYU for the autumn semester) or at the end of June (those studying at JYU for the academic year or spring semester).

You can also download your own transcript of records directly from Sisu. You will be able to access Sisu with your JYU credentials for 61 days after your study right has ended. Therefore, you can download your transcript of records directly from Sisu until the end of February (those studying at JYU for the autumn semester) or the end of July (those studying at JYU for the academic year or spring semester).

ISEP students: your transcript will automatically be sent to ISEP at the end of January/June and there is no need to fill in a departure information form. ISEP, in turn, will send your transcript to your home university ISEP coordinator.

Remember to complete all the coursework and hand in all the assignments by the time your study right at JYU ends. The right to study at JYU ends for most exchange students on 31 December / 31 May.

Please check on Sisu that all courses you have registered for are shown as completed instead of 'partially completed'. More information on partially completed courses on Sisu FAQ.

Certificate of your exchange period

If you need a departure certificate with the dates of your stay, stop by at the International Office Info Desk on Tuesdays at 10-11 and Thursdays at 12-13 at the university library Lähde, room B154. If your home university uses a specific certificate template, please bring it along. Otherwise, we will use the JYU certificate. If your departure date is more than one week from your visit, please be prepared to show your plane tickets to confirm your departure date.

Housing

Remember to leave your apartment in clean and good condition! Here's what you should do before your departure:

  • Do not leave any personal belongings in the apartment. A fee will be charged if you leave anything behind.
  • Leaving food, garbage or harmful substances in the apartment is strictly forbidden and may lead to a higher cleaning fee.
  • The furniture and household items which were in the apartment when you moved in should be left in the apartment. A fee is charged for any missing, broken or unwashed items.
  • Donate the things you do not wish to take with you to charity, such as Fida Secondhand (Tapionkatu 12) or give them away for example through Facebook groups, e.g. Roskalava Jyväskylä. You can also check out where to recycle textiles and other various small items at
  • Return the apartment key to the accommodation office according to their instructions. Do not leave the key in your room.
  • Make sure your rent, sauna fees and other bills are paid.
  • Close the door to your bedroom and apartment when you leave.

Feedback

The Ģֱ wishes to develop its international study programmes and services for international students. You have a chance to help us by filling out the feedback form that has been sent to you in your "Departure checklist" email. It is crucial for the evaluation process to get feedback from as many students as possible, we appreciate your time and effort!

Other things to take care of

  • Return all the library books you have borrowed.
  • Your user account and password for the university network are valid for 61 days after the end of your study right. Unfortunately, it is not possible to renew your user license after this, unless you start your studies at JYU again.
