Story concert for families: Maukka and Väykkä

In Maukka and Väykkä's story concert, led by author Timo Parvela himself, we will hear stories told in many different ways. The concert includes storytelling, drama, dance and music. The event is suitable for all ages. The concert lasts about 45 minutes.

Welcome to Children's Story Concert! 
The event consists of read aloud stories, music and dance.

Please arrive early. Doors will open to the public at 13.30, performance starts at 14.00. There is room for 740 participants in the main building's assembly hall. 
Café Belvedere (located in the main building) will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. and will offer a selection of child-friendly products. 

Language in Maukka and Väykkä's Story Concert will be Finnish.

Maukka and Väykkä is a series of stories written by author Timo Parvela. It is all about friendship, recognising and accepting difference. The characters and stories, also familiar from the TV Christmas calendar, describe the joys and difficulties of living together - with humour and tears.

Ensemble: 
Awarded author Timo Parvela has written more than 100 books for children and young people, plays and TV dramas. His books have been translated into more than 35 languages and sold more than 6 million copies worldwide. In addition to Maukka and Väykkä, favourite characters and series include Ella and friends, Pate, Kepler62, Varjot and Melkein mahdoton tehtävä..

Lotta Kuusisto is originally a dancer-choreographer, but also former provincial artist in Mikkeli and a choreographer for the Savonlinna Opera Festival and the Finnish National Opera. Over time, she also became a singer-actor, whose humorous approach to his work has been admired in many productions, including those of the Helsinki-based Musiikkiteatteri Kapsäkki. Children's concerts are an important part of her professional activities.

Paavo Kerosuo is also known for his different roles in Kapsäkki. He has also performed at the Svenska Teatern and Helsinki City Theatre. He became popular among children and adults in the hit musical Risto Räppääjä, written by Sinikka and Tiina Nopola and composed by Iiro Rantala. Paavo Kerosuo has also appeared in several films and TV series. As a voice actor, he has played many cartoon characters, including Simba in the Disney film The Lion King.

Also Niko Kumpuvaara is a member of the music theatre group Kapsäkki. In addition he works as a musician regardless of genre. In particular, he has worked with new accordion music. In the field of rhythm music, his most active bands are the Finnish pop music legends Dallapé and GG Caravan.
