Accommodation during the Winter School of Ecology

The winter school participants will be accommodated at the Konnevesi Research Station.

Accommodation and meals

The Winter School accommodation is organised at the Konnevesi Research Station. Winter school participants are accommodated in the research station dormitory rooms for 2-3 persons. The dormitories have shared kitchen facilities, toilets and showers. There is a possibility for sauna and ice hole swimming during the courses. Please note that it is not possible to use your own bed linen and towel and using a sleeping bag is not permitted.

Meals are prepared in the kitchen of the research station and served in the dining room. Information about possible food allergies or special diets will be collected from admitted students on the confirmation of participation form. The information will be passed on to the kitchen of the research station, which can provide vegetarian food, lactose- and/or gluten-free food, if needed.

The accommodation and meals are to be paid before arriving to the research station. Payment instructions will be sent by email to students who have been granted admission to the Winter School.

Prices include accommodation, meals and use of bed linen and towels.

Meals during the weekend

NB! There is no meal service from Saturday's light dinner until Sunday's light dinner. On Saturday and Sunday, there is no kitchen personnel at the Konnevesi Research Station. If you stay at the Research Station during the weekend you need to buy your meals beforehand and bring them with you. There are also two restaurants and a supermarket in Konnevesi village (4 km from the Research Station). The research station personnel can take students shopping for the weekend meals in the village if needed, but this should be agreed upon with the personnel in advance. It is also possible to cook in the dormitory kitchen.

Extra nights

Accommodation is offered for the winter school period. In case you are interested in requesting extra nights at the Research Station, please direct your queries beforehand at: toimisto-konnevesi@jyu.fi or ask from the Research Station Office during your stay.
