Master's Degree Programme in Language, Globalization and Intercultural Communication

How does globalization challenge our understanding of language and communication? What roles do language and culture play in our societies? What are the connections between media, discourse and power? How can one approach language learning and questions of identity in today’s world? If you are interested in these and similar questions and their complex answers, the Master’s Degree Programme in Language, Globalization and Intercultural Communication (LAGIC) is right for you.

Why this programme?

The LAGIC programme combines intercultural communication and applied language studies in a nationally and internationally unique way. The program combines various approaches, including discourses, identities, mobilities, media landscapes, and the use of media. It also explores how language use is connected to social interaction across different contexts. The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ is one of the pioneers in the teaching and research of intercultural communication in Finland.

In addition to theoretical depth, there is a strong practical aspect in the programme, providing communication competencies required in the multicultural, networked world. The programme prepares students for careers involving significant intercultural contacts in companies, public organizations, and non-governmental organizations. The students will be also qualified for research-intensive employment.
