Master's applicants: Individual arrangements

Information on applying for individual arrangements for student selection during the spring joint application of 2025.

Individual arrangements are practical adjustments the University makes to remove or reduce a disadvantage related to the applicant’s disability.

As a part of the admission process, you may be required to complete a timed assignment or oral examination. You may need special arrangements if you have a diagnosed disability or medical condition that affects your ability to participate in the admission process, such as hearing or visual impairment or dyslexia. These arrangements depend on your specific needs and could include, for example:

  • extra time for timed exams and assignments
  • alternative methods of completion (e.g., an oral assignment instead of a written one)
  • assistive devices
  • personal assistant

Individual arrangements do not affect your admission score. You may not receive point credit on the grounds of needing individual arrangements.

If you have needs that should be considered during the admission process, you must submit a written request for individual arrangements and the necessary attachment(s) to the JYU Admission Services within seven days after the application period has ended. This means that if you are applying for an English-taught master’s degree programme in 2025, the following documents must reach the University by 29 January 2025 at 3:00 p.m. (EET):

  • Application form for individual arrangements (docx)
  • An expert statement (e.g., a medical certificate) that specifies the kind of recommended individual arrangements and the grounds for granting such arrangements. If the document is issued in a language other than Finnish, Swedish, or English, you must submit an official translation along with the original language version.

If the application is received after the deadline, the University is not obliged to make any individual arrangements.

Please submit your application form and the necessary attachment(s) to idp-attachments@jyu.fi by using . Please leave the GSM field empty. Do not send the documents by regular email.

Alternatively, you can send the documents by mail to the following address:

THE DECISION

The requests for individual arrangements are assessed on a case-by-case basis. The University will inform you about the arrangements you have been granted as soon as possible before the examination.

If you are dissatisfied with the decision, you can submit a written request for rectification after the results of student selection have been published. You will receive more detailed instructions for doing so along with your result.

The decision is exam-specific and valid only in that particular examination.
