Country-specific requirements

The requirements listed below apply to master's applicants who have received a conditional offer of admission to one of our English-taught master’s degree programmes (excluding the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters) and to all doctoral applicants who are applying to our doctoral programmes.

About the country-specific document requirements

Your higher education documents may need to meet specific requirements depending on the issuing country. Otherwise, we will be unable to verify their authenticity. Please check below to see if the country in which the degree-granting institution is located is listed. If so, please adhere to the country-specific requirements. But if not, please submit the necessary documents either physically or electronically, following our general document requirements:

English-taught master's programmes:

Any documents submitted during the application phase are exempt from these country-specific requirements. Only if you have been admitted to a master’s programme are you required to follow these guidelines. The documents must reach JYU by 15 July 2024 at 3.00 p.m. (EEST). Otherwise, your admission will be cancelled.

Doctoral programmes:

If you are applying for admission to a doctoral programme, please follow these guidelines when submitting your educational documents during the application period. Please also follow these guidelines if you receive a conditional admission decision.

Please keep in mind the following:
  • Photocopies must bear the ԲپٳܳپDz’s original stamp as well as the certifying Ǵڴھ’s original signature. Scanned signatures and stamps are insufficient.
  • Suppose that the country-specific requirement only mentions one document. In that case, you should submit the rest of your educational documents in accordance with the general requirements.
  • If you completed your degree at an offshore campus, please follow the requirements of the country in which the degree-awarding institution is located.
  • If you have completed a top-up degree or transferred, some of your documents may need to adhere to different requirements than others; please make sure that each document meets the requirements of its issuing country!
  • These country-specific requirements do not apply to high school diplomas, which can be used as proof of English skills in some cases. High school diplomas should be submitted in accordance with the general requirements.
  • If you have been granted a residence permit in Finland on the basis of international protection (i.e., asylum, temporary protection or subsidiary protection) and are unable to meet the requirements listed below, please contact us at admissions@jyu.fi (master's applicants) or doctoral-admissions@jyu.fi (doctoral applicants) as soon as possible.
