"The programme provides students with a great combination of academic and practical knowledge."
I am a 2019 IBE graduate. Before applying to the program, I already had a strong background in IT. The main reason I applied to the program was the balance between academic and practical teaching. Also, I was looking for a master’s degree in English in Finland. Lastly, ´³²â±¹Ã¤²õ°ì²â±ôä is known as a great student city with unique landscapes.
During my studies, I was a buyer intern at Eaton. This internship sparked my interest in sourcing from a study perspective. Upon graduation from the IBE, I got into UPM’s graduate program. I am still working with UPM as a Sourcing Transformation Specialist. My responsibilities lay in change management and digitalization of sourcing and procurement processes.
The IBE program helps me in various ways. First, UPM is an international company and gained experience working in diverse teams at the IBE match well together. Second, the program allowed me understanding people better. It is extremely beneficial when I collaborate with the company’s stakeholders. Lastly, the program provides students with a great combination of academic and practical knowledge that I apply in my role.
In my opinion, the IBE program is a decent choice for a master's degree if you aim to:
-
Meet people with different professional and educational backgrounds
-
Study by doing the projects with the actual companies
-
Learn from the top-notch professors who have achievements both in academia and the business world
If you are an IBE student, my advice is to be open to new challenges and think about what interests you the most. Always keep in mind that the job market gets more competitive every year, and companies are looking for distinctiveness in applicants. When you are looking for employment, be ready to link your professional background and study experience.
P.S. If you are new to ´³²â±¹Ã¤²õ°ì²â±ôä, make sure to enjoy the great nature around the city (e.g., visit Laajavuori).
