Centralized funds for open access publishing at the Open Science Centre

Open access publishing fees are handled centrally if the research has been funded by a cOAlition S funder or if the full cost model is applied to the funding. The corresponding author must contact the Open Science Center before submitting the manuscript to the publisher.

Publication fees (APC, BPC) for peer-reviewed publications are paid from a central fund if either of the following conditions applies:

1. The research is funded by an organization endorsing Plan S (e.g. Research Council of Finland or EU), and the funding period started on or after September 1, 2021.

  • The corresponding author must be a researcher at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥.
  • Please ensure that the publication channel you have chosen meets the criteria of your funder. You can use the Journal Checker Tool to see if your preferred journal is compliant with the funder's OA policy.

2. The funding follows the full cost model, and the funding period started on or after September 1, 2021.

  • The corresponding author must be a researcher at the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥.
  • The Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ applies the full cost model, for example, to grants from the Research Council of Finland and to the majority of Business Finland grants.
  • If you are not sure whether your project follows the full cost model, please contact the Research and Innovation Services or the project controller in charge of your project.

Please contact the Open Science Centre before submitting your manuscript

The corresponding author affiliated to the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ should contact Open Science Centre before submitting their manuscript to a publisher.
