Project description

Increasing global migration brings considerable challenges for schools and teachers. Teaching that Matters for Migrant Students (TEAMS) project aims to help teachers and schools to meet the needs of migrant students. The project focuses on the work of teachers within different schools and different support systems that are available to students and teachers in Sweden, Finland and Scotland. The project is interested in a holistic understanding of migrant integration in schools in light of their academic success, cross-cultural socialization and a sense of belonging to the school community.

The project aims to understand how teachers and schools work with others within and beyond schools to enable integration processes around migrant students. Therefore, the project focuses on collaborative practices that help build inclusive school environments. Furthermore, the aim is to create opportunities for professional learning and to design resources for educators and local and national policy makers as well as for learning across the three different countries.
