
Tanja Niemi
Biography
I am a Doctoral Researcher in the SuSTra: Sustainability Transformations Doctoral Education Pilot. My doctoral research explores Nordic eating for planetary well-being, focusing identifying and fostering interfaces for socio-culturally accepted dietary transition. My specific areas of interest include enabling a just transition of the food system, understanding perceptions related to diets and food and exploring the power relations and public discourse shaping the transition.
At the Ä¢¹½Ö±²¥ I have worked as a Project Researcher and Research Assistant since 2023 in sustainability transition-themed projects: BIODIFUL and JUST-FOOD.
I graduated in the spring of 2024 with a MSc in Economics and Business Administration from JSBE​​​​​​​ Corporate Environmental Management. In my Master's thesis, I assessed the media discussions during the preparation of the Climate Food Programme. You can access my thesis here: .
I also hold a Master’s degree in Hospitality Management and have an extensive background delivering unforgettable experiences within the restaurant and tourism sectors. In my thesis, I studied the awareness of the Nordic diet and developed guidelines for its advancement. The final report can be found here: .
