About research: In my article based dissertation (2021–2025) I explore rap artist Cheek’s poetics: means of expression characteristic of the lyrics and meanings these bring forth, following theories of cognitive poetics and cultural wellbeing. Cheek’s music has been one of the most famous phenomena in Finnish popular culture during the past decade. In my research I also outline the concept 'poetics of resilience'. In my research context of cultural wellbeing, resilience broadly refers to resources when facing challenges. Via rap and resilience my research also deals with fundamental themes in literary science, such as affective features of language. My research methods are analysis of lyrics and dialogic theme interviews which I have co-produced with Jare Tiihonen.
