Biography
I am a part-time teacher in Slovak and English. In addition to Slovak and English courses, I teach courses in multilingual creative writing, multilingual interaction, and Slavic languages and nations. The main focus is on the development of learners' multilingual and multicultural competencies.
The course Multilingual Interaction: Use your languages! aims to increase students' competence in multilingual and multicultural academic communication by promoting their full linguistic repertoire in different learning situations. The simultaneous use of several languages in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments contributes to the development of students' multilingual and multicultural competencies and their multicultural awareness.
The course Multilingual Creative Writing. The aim is to encourage students to write in different languages. Publishing texts and reflecting on one's writing process is an integral part of the course. The "text" and its different forms become an important part of students' creative writing process. The course covers topics such as the difference between monolingual and multilingual writing, the relationship between creative writing and academic writing, and the benefits of digital writing.
In the multilingual creative writing course, I maintain students' enthusiasm and creativity, support them in the creative writing process, and share the ever-present pain and joy of the writing process.
The course on Slavic Languages and Nations provides a basic knowledge of all Slavic languages, including the Slavic micro-languages.
One of the main learning objectives is to become familiar with Slavic languages by looking for similarities and differences between closely related languages. In addition to multicultural and multilingual communication aimed at sharing knowledge between different Slavic cultures, discussions on various issues related to the concept of cultural identity - sensitivity and appreciation of Slavic history, values, experiences, and ways of life - will increase students' multicultural awareness and develop their critical thinking skills. As a teacher, I need to guide students towards multilingualism, to inspire and support them in their learning, to give them space and grace.
I nurture students' interest in Slovak and Slavic languages in general, open up new perspectives on language and culture, and encourage them to use the languages they learn creatively and without limits.
Educational technologies and various digital solutions are an integral part of my teaching (hybrid teaching), as they allow me to reach both distance and non-remote students who due to various reasons cannot participate in contact teaching.
