Three JYU professors from the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences in the world list of super researchers

The Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list comprises researchers whose research publications are among the top one percent of the most often cited publications in their field. The number of references is based on Web of Science data over the past ten years. The list is published once a year. Professor Hagger and Professor Ortega are listed in the category of multidisciplinary research and Professor Lubans in the category of social sciences.
Professor Martin Hagger has worked in the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, University of
Jyväskylä, since 2015. At present, he is also working as Professor of Health Psychology in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of California and as Visiting Professor in the School of Applied Psychology at Griffith University, Australia. He is one of the leaders of the BC-Well profiling area (The behaviour change, health, and well-being across the lifespan) and his research applies social-psychological theory to predict, understanding and change health behaviour. In his career, Hagger has authored more than 450 publications. Professor Hagger is on Clarivate's list for the third time.
Professor David Lubans is a visiting professor at the Faculty of Sport and
Health Sciences. He is also the Deputy Director of the University of Newcastle’s Centre for Active Living and Learning. He is a former Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow and current National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Senior Research Fellow. Professor Lubans has published over 300 publications and secured funding from competitive sources including the ARC, NHMRC, Sciences and Humanities Research Council Canada, Health Research Council New Zealand, and Hong Kong General Research Fund. He is internationally recognised as an expert in the design, evaluation, and dissemination of school-based physical activity interventions. This is Professor Lubans’ fourth year on the Clarivate list.
Professor Francisco B. Ortega (Fran) is a visiting professor at the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences. His main institution is the Faculty of Sports Sciences at the University of Granada, Spain, and he is also affiliated to
the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition at Karolinska Institute, Sweden. He is the Co-director of the PROFITH (PROmoting FITness and Health through physical activity group) at the University of Granada. Prof. Ortega has published 450 scientific articles, has more than 47.000 citations and more than 100 h-index in Google Scholar. He is internationally recognized as an expert in fitness and physical activity epidemiology and has led important randomized controlled trials to investigate the effects of exercise on different health outcomes, including cognition and brain health, in different populations. He was selected by the WHO as part of the expert committee who developed the 2020 Guidelines on Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour. This is the first time for Prof. Ortega as Highly Cited Researcher in the Clarivate list.
