All exams in the University’s premises during this period will be rescheduled. However, all planned remote teaching and online exams will be arranged normally.

With these measures, the University aims to prevent the spreading of virus infections and to give the teaching staff time to devise alternative teaching arrangements for the spring. Students will be provided additional information on the arrangements course-specifically.

All shared study facilities and computer classrooms will be closed immediately in order to minimize physical contact. All student services continue to operate online until further notice. To enable remote distance learning, the operation of JYU libraries will be limited to lending of books. More detailed are being prepared.

“We have not received information on any confirmed coronavirus cases among our staff and students, but we have been informed about some persons with symptoms similar to coronavirus,” says Rector Keijo Hämäläinen. “The cases cannot be confirmed because, due to the expanding epidemic, the local health care district no longer performs tests on persons with mild symptoms. Due to the general development of the epidemic, we decided to accelerate the transition to online learning and remote work and to minimize physical contacts. We will take all necessary measures to minimize the number of infections. The University aims to ensure the progress of studies despite the extraordinary circumstances.”

According to the instructions of the municipality’s physician in charge of communicable diseases, the risk of getting an infection indirectly through facilities is low.

The Ģֱ Teacher Training School continues to organize basic education, upper secondary education and matriculation examinations for the time being in accordance with the guidelines of regional authorities.
